Introducing Operator Cohort 0
Today, we are excited to announce Cohort 0, the initial operator working group that will be supporting the global decentralization of Symbiotic networks. This marks another large step toward Symbiotic’s vision of a permissionless shared security protocol that enables effective decentralization and alignment for any network.
Cohort 0 represents a group of 40 professional node operators with years of experience, billions of dollars of stake, and a proven track record in the blockchain space.
Operators are one of the essential pillars of any decentralized network. While Cohort 0 represents an initial base set of operators, Symbiotic is neutral, open, and permissionless. When launching with Symbiotic, networks can select any preferred operator.
Global Resilience through Decentralization
Cohort 0 consists of teams strategically located around the globe, providing:
- Jurisdictional Diversity: Guarding against regulatory risk in any single region.
- Geographic Resilience: Protecting networks against regional disasters or outages.
- Provider Diversity: Mitigating risks associated with reliance on any single data center or cloud provider.
This diversity enables networks on Symbiotic to achieve globe-spanning resilience and decentralization from day one.
By leveraging an experienced operator set, Symbiotic enables new networks to launch with a level of security and decentralization that would typically takes years to bootstrap. This approach increases security and reduces the decentralization barrier for both emerging and existing networks.
